About Me

Hello! I am Jo Bealey
Licensed & Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist
Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.
As a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, I am registered with both the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and the Australian Counselling Association. My approach is rooted in the belief that therapy should be accessible and achievable for everyone, no matter their circumstances.
Sometimes life feels weighty. Perhaps you’re struggling to manage feelings like grief, worry, or lacking hope. Or maybe you’ve been feeling stuck and alone because of overthinking, anxiety, and a sense of not being able to have a grasp on life. You don’t have to bear these burdens by yourself.
I have personal experience with the vulnerability that comes with sharing details of your inner life. I had many of the same difficulties as my clients before I became a therapist. For this reason, I view therapy as a collaboration – a setting where you are genuinely seen and heard rather than condemned or “fixed.”
We work at your pace in a welcoming and inviting setting during our sessions. It will follow your intuition because this is your space. Your feelings and experiences are valid, regardless of whether you’re processing past events or dealing with current difficulties. We will carefully and curiously examine the intricacies of your journey together.

My Approach
Healing old traumas, especially those resulting from challenging relationships with parents or caregivers, is a major focus of my practice. This may include negotiating the profound grief caused by early attachment difficulties or treating the “mother wound” for many individuals.
I provide a loving environment that nurtures your inner child, the one that may have yearned for solace, security, or understanding. I want to help you regain trust in both yourself, and other people by providing a compassionate and dependable presence during our work together.
My specialty is attachment-based psychotherapy, which seeks to understand how our early experiences shape our relationships with ourselves and each other. By looking into your attachment type, we can find the patterns that may be impacting your relationships and begin to heal the wounds from the past.
Developing emotional resilience and self-compassion is emphasized in the attachment-based approach. Together, we’ll strengthen your sense of safety and belonging, cultivate more wholesome relationships, and increase your ability to regulate your emotions.
What to Expect
Your needs and feelings are the focus of our collaborative therapy sessions. I treat every client as unique and make every effort to treat you with sincere warmth, empathy, and respect.
You can anticipate a secure and compassionate environment where your story will be respected, whether we interact in person or virtually. I’ll be by your side while we travel the road to recovery and change, even if some days may feel more difficult than others.
Nurturing the aspects of yourself that require attention is something you can do at any time. We collaborate to build a life that is more truly you, connected, and secure.
