Counselling in Perth & Joondalup with Jo Bealey
Compassionate Counselling and Therapy for Couples & Individuals in Perth
Welcome. You’ve made it here, and that already matters.
What to Expect From Therapy With Me in Perth, Applecross, or Joondalup
Counselling isn’t just about talking, it’s about being met.
It’s about having a space that’s steady, calm, and quietly supportive…
where you don’t have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or hold it all together.
Together, we gently explore your experiences, both past and present, to understand the patterns shaping how you feel, connect, cope, and protect yourself.
Sometimes those patterns come from early relationships.
Sometimes they’re so familiar, you didn’t even realise they were optional.
This work isn’t about digging things up for the sake of it.
It’s about creating space for reflection, repair, and growth at your pace, in a way that feels safe for your system.
Kindness and empathy are at the core of our work together.
So is consistency.
Because when you’ve been carrying a lot for a long time, what you often need most is someone who simply keeps showing up.
We’ll also explore practices like mindfulness and self-compassion, not as buzzwords but as tools to help you build a softer relationship with yourself. One that isn’t ruled by shame, overthinking, or the need to be “fine.”
Every session is shaped around you, your pace, your needs, your season.
No one-size-fits-all. No pressure to be “ready.” Just a space to land, explore and begin.
And if you’re not sure yet…
That’s completely okay.
You can book a free 20-minute chat no pressure, no expectation – just a chance to see how this might feel.
I offer sessions in Applecross and Joondalup, or online if that feels more comfortable for you.
Wherever we meet, the goal is the same:
A space where you’re supported, not judged.
Seen, not managed.
Heard, not hurried.
If it feels like the right time, I’d love to work with you.
Begin Here
It starts with a connection.
Just dip your toe in and see how it feels – no pressure, no expectations.
You’re welcome to book a first session or a free 20-minute chat.
Let’s see if it feels like the right fit, together.
Jo Bealey is a registered counsellor and attachment-based psychotherapist (BACP + ACA)
She offers grounded, compassionate support for individuals and couples both in-person and online. Creating a space where your nervous system can settle, your story can unfold, and the real work of healing and change can begin.
You might be wondering if this is the right place?
You’re not alone in asking that. In fact, it’s one of the most important questions you can ask at the start of any therapeutic work.
You might be someone who usually keeps things in. Who copes quietly.
Or maybe you feel everything – deeply, all the time and wish it didn’t feel so heavy.
You might be the helper, the fixer, the one others turn to.
Or the one who’s just starting to realise how much you’ve been holding.
Maybe you’re curious about therapy but unsure if you’ll know what to say, Or you’ve tried before… and didn’t quite feel understood.
If this is you – you’re in the right place.
I work gently, relationally, and at your pace. Creating a space that’s consistent, supportive, and safe enough for the deeper stuff to rise (when you’re ready).
I’m not here to fix you.
I’m here to walk alongside you while you explore what’s underneath the coping, the patterns, and the tenderness you rarely show.
Together, we’ll look at how your past shaped you and how your future can feel different.
If any part of this feels familiar, I’d love to meet you.
We can start with a free 20-minute chat — no pressure, just a soft place to start.
Whether we start with a phone chat or you’re ready to book a session, I offer therapy in both Joondalup and Applecross, supporting clients across Perth, and beyond (online or in-person, wherever you are in the world).

Why Attachment & Relationship Therapy
My special interest and the heart of my work is in Attachment-based Psychotherapy Therapy. It’s an approach that just makes sense to me.
Because so much of our emotional world is shaped in relationship.
Whether through what we received, what we didn’t, or what we learned we had to become in order to feel safe, seen, or loved.
Attachment work helps us understand not only why we respond the way we do in moments of conflict, distance, or closeness but also how to shift those patterns with compassion and curiosity, not blame.
This approach isn’t about endlessly looking back it’s about seeing the thread between then and now, and gently unravelling what’s no longer serving you.
It supports both individuals and couples to:
Build emotional safety with themselves and with each other
Understand the deeper needs behind triggers, shutdowns, or over-functioning
Reclaim a sense of inner steadiness, so love doesn’t feel like a risk
Create secure foundations in parenting, partnership, and self-worth
At its core, this work is about creating security from the inside out.
So you can relate with more ease, show up more honestly, and hold space for both your own needs and the needs of those around you.
Understanding your attachment isn’t just helpful, it’s the foundation of real, lasting change.
